They feel support. I’ve had one mom of a young two one deer describe it as it’s one giant hug. But on the other hand, we have half the teams in the tournament have no direct connection to type one diabetes. They just love playing wiffle ball. They love the cause. And and and what we do we’re able to educate and broaden awareness around the disease. And so, I think that’s what’s what makes it really special. A beloved Wiffle Ball tournament is returning to Little Fenway in Essex, Vermont, for a 14th summer.SLAMT1D, a nonprofit led by Jericho’s Jeff Kolok, aims to raise money for those living with Type 1 diabetes.Kolok, who bought Little Fenway from the Travis Roy Foundation in 2021, hosts a three-day Wiffle Ball tournament at the famous quarter-sized replicas of Fenway Park, Wrigley Field, Yankee Stadium, and Field of Dreams. More than 4,000 volunteer hours have gone into getting the fields ready to host 30 teams from around the country. Last year’s tournament raised over $420 thousand for Type 1 diabetes research.This year, NBC5’s Jack Main will be a part of the tournament, playing for the “Bush League Boys” organized by UVM Men’s Soccer national champion and Mount Mansfield Union grad Eric Bissell, whose mom, dad, and sister all live with Type 1 diabetes.
