A NEW ERA OF VERMONT WOMEN’S BASKETBALL IS HERE! THE CATAMOUNTS TODAY.. INTRODUCING MAUREEN MAGARITY AS THE 10TH HEAD COACH IN PROGRAM HISTORY.. AND SURROUNDED BY HER NEW CO WORKERS.. COACH MAGARITY SHARED WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A PART OF CATAMOUNT COUNTRY.. AND THE SUPPORT TEAM BEHIND THE FIRST new uvm basketball power couple HISTORY HISTORY MADE IN THE VICTORY CLUB ROOM ON TUESDAY! AS THE SUCSESSOR TO THE WINNINGEST HEAD COACH IN VERMONT WOMEN’S BASKETBALL HISTORY.. ADRESSED A CROWD OF HER COLLUEGES.. Vermont Women’s Basketball head coach – “been a it’s been a crazy whirlwind, 48 hours.”> SINCE STEPPING DOWN FROM HOLY CROSS IN 2024… MAGARITY HAS BEEN A GIFTS OFFICER FOR THE U-V-M FOUNDATION. STARTING UP N-I-L FUNDS FOR EVERY SPORT ON CAMPUS. NOW.. SHE RETURNS TO THE SIDELINE.. TO A SPORT THAT’S CHANGED SO MUCH IN THE TWO YEARS SINCE SHE’S LAST CALLED A PLAY. <Maureen Magarity – UVM Women’s Basketball Head coach – “obviously being married to a coach and hearing everything that he goes through, but also being really close with Alisa and I think for Jeff, you just needed to know. And because I respect him, love this program so much that I would never really, take it as much time as I needed to make sure I felt I was the right person for this because of all those reasons.”> <Jeff Shulman – UVM Athletic Director – “I’ve got, like, one of the best women’s basketball coaches in the country, two offices down. If I had screwed this up, I probably shouldn’t be beating doing my job.”> THE BIGGEST CHANGE IN COLLEGE ATHLETICS SINCE MAUREEN WAS ON A SIDELINE.. IS THE PACE OF THE OFFSEASON… PLAYERS ENTERING THE PORTAL.. AT AN ALARMING RATE.. LOOKING TO SECURE N-I-L CONTRACTS.. AGENCY EVERY SEASON. <Jeff Shulman – UVM Athletic Director – “I asked our players to to be patient, and I committed to them that I would move the process along so as quickly as I student athlete to not know, you need who’s going to be. so, we wanted to make sure we were doing everything possible to get a great coach in here first and foremost, but also as quickly as possible”> practice time and court time!”> AND THERE IS VERY LITTLE TIME FOR COACH MAGARITY TO GET TO ACCLIMATED.. SHE ALREADY HAS PROSPECTIVE STUDENT ATHLETES TO MEET WITH THIS WEEK.. AND WILL SHORTLY SOON HEAD OUT ON HER FIRST RECRUITING TRIPS! AND THE LIST OF NEEDS JUST GOT BIGGER.. AS TODAY.. ON3 SPORTS IS REPORTING THAT AMERICA EAST FIRST TEAMER.. KEIRA HANSON WILL ENTER THE TRANSFER PORTAL.. AND INTEND TO PLAY ELSEWHERE NEXT YEAR. NOW THAT ONLY MATERS… IF HANSON IS GRANTED A RED SHIRT.
