Turning more humid and smoky, with showers and storms Saturday
Afternoon severe storms possible, especially south and west; beautiful Sunday into Monday
Saturday looks unsettled with a mostly cloudy sky and passing showers, especially in the morning and early afternoon. Scattered storms develop ahead of a cold front by late afternoon, passing from west to east. Highs reach the upper 70s, with increasing humidity.
Some storms may be strong to severe, with the main hazard being damaging wind gusts, especially from northern New York to southern Vermont. The main timeframe to watch is between 3 and 8 PM.

Another plume of wildfire smoke arrives by Saturday afternoon, adding haziness to the sky and bringing a significant drop in air quality.
Any leftover showers and storms diminish tonight, with a mostly cloudy sky. A northwest breeze brings a drop in humidity. Lows reach the 50s to around 60 for most.
Sunday looks drier and brighter, with a refreshing northwest breeze. Any early clouds fade to lots of sunshine, with highs in the mid-70s.
Monday also looks beautiful, with a partly sunny sky and highs in the low 80s.
Shower and storm chances come up again Tuesday into Wednesday, with higher humidity and highs in the 70s.
A bright and seasonable stretch is expected late week, with highs near 80.
