Pilot rescued by residents after small plane crash in Morgan, Vermont
MORGAN, Vt. —
The pilot of a small plane was rescued by neighbors after his aircraft went down on Seymour Lake on Monday morning.
Vermont State Police said the pilot, James Gregory, 66, of East Burke, called police to tell them that his aircraft went down over Lake Seymour just after 8 a.m.

Gregory was not injured in the crash. He told police that he was taking off from Lake Seymour in his 2002 Rans S6 Coyote II when a malfunction in the aircraft caused him to stall and crash back into the lake. He was the only occupant of the craft, police said.
Several neighbors saw the crash and responded in their personal boats to rescue him from the water and bring him to their home.
The plane sank to the bottom of the lake, police said.
The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation was notified of the incident.
The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation and will be taken over by the Federal Aviation Administration.
