College collects messages as head football coach recovers from cycling accident
The head football coach for Dartmouth College, Eugene “Buddy” Teevens, was hospitalized Thursday after a cycling accident in St. Augustine, Florida. On Saturday, the college athletics department announced Teevens was in the hospital in the St. Augustine area, where his family has a home. They’re not accepting visitors at this time. The 66-year-old was a quarterback for Dartmouth College and an Ivy League Player of the Year. He also became the all-time winningest coach for the Dartmouth football program, coaching for 23 years as the Division I head football coach. The college is accepting messages for Coach Teevens electronically and in the mail. They’ll be collected by Dartmouth Athletics and passed along to the family. Out of respect for the Teevens family, any updates on the coach’s condition will be made available in accordance with their wishes.
