TV Dinner: Polish Haluski

WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Haluski is a Polish dish that’s often served for meatless dinners during Lent and as a side dish the rest of the year.

But since it’s not Lent, Chef Chris Manning serves it with grilled kielbasa.

It’s not traditional, but he added crumbled feta cheese and chopped green onion to top the dish off.

Haluski

  • 1/4 cup (half a stick) butter
  • 2 cups diced onion
  • 3 cups chopped cabbage
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup chicken stock
  • 8 ounces wide egg noodles, cooked

Sauté onion and cabbage in butter until onions begin to wilt. Add garlic and cook for about 30 seconds. Stir in egg noodles and add chicken stock. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Cook until everything is warmed through.
